On the last day of our trip
we headed in to Amsterdam to check out Artis Zoo. It is quite an old
zoo, and this does show a little, especially in some of the Big Cat
enclosures, that do seem a little old fashioned. Much of the Zoo though
has now been modernised, with good enclosures for most of the animals. I
found this reflected by a good breeding program, as we encountered a
significant number of recently born animals.
Another nice feature of this zoo was the variety of exhibitions on show.
As well as a large number of animal enclosures, including several
impressive animal houses. There were other related attractions as well
such as as two small museums, an aquarium, a walkthrough butterfly
building and a planetarium. |
