On day 4 we visited a place
we knew about as it's owned by the same people who own Walibi World, and
is mentioned on their website, called the
Dolfinarium. As you might guess
from the name it's a marine park that specialises in Marine Mammals like
seals, walruses, sea lions and of course dolphins. You don't see
anything in the U.K. like this due to the fact it's illegal to keep
Dolphins in the UK. Having been to a park like this I do tend to
disagree with this ruling, as all the animals had large enclosures and
seemed well cared for, so believe as long as strict licensing laws
linked to the animals welfare are enforced a park like this would be
good for the U.K.
The star attraction of the park is the Dolphins, and there are two good
dolphin shows which are the star attractions, but some of the other
shows are good as well. Seeing the Walruses was a memorable experience,
as you don't really appreciate how large they really are until you see
them for real. The sea lion show was also great, being a show put
together really well to music. It's one of my favourite shows I've seen
in any park.
If your planning a multiple centre trip it's worth knowing that this and
Walibi World are pretty close together. You get a bus from the same
train station to get to them. Theoretically you could do both in one day
but I don't think this would be worth the hassle as you'd have to rush
both parks. |
