Track or Treat 2: It's Coming Home
Thorpe Park Fright Night 2008

After doing the Hellgate horror maze we headed over for a go on The Samurai and on Logger's Leap.

Next we headed over to our second horror maze of the evening, The Asylum. This is easily the most freak out scary of the 4 mazes, with narrow corridors, mirrors, and some sound effects and lighting effects which create a very disorientating experience. The whole theming of being a lunatic asylum also helps make it even more scary, and it definitely has the most energetic and scariest actors.

Next we headed over to Nemesis Inferno. We were going to go on it, but then saw it has a 90 minute queue. At this point I uttered a two word phrase, the second word of which was "that". We decided to instead get something for dinner, then head to our next horror maze.

The next maze we did is located in the arena where the stunt show normally happens, and as you might have gathered from the photo is called 7. It's themed around 7 rooms, each themed around a different one of the 7 deadly sins.
I found this to be the weakest of the 4 mazes. It probably didn't help we were a little too close to the group in front of us, giving away some of the surprises. I also think the theming was the weakest, and the set up of going through themed rooms made it a little more formulaic  and predictable than the other mazes.

Next we headed over to finally do our first coaster of the evening. Unfortunately with the Flying Fish non operational at this point, and the 3 big coasters all with big queues it was this one. Since I last rode it they've added a few sound effects to the bits where it stops, which helps it a little. The theming of the building area itself is even worse than I remember it. It's just a number of very shabby corridors.

Here's a shot of the boomerang element on Colossus taken from the X: No Way Out queue line.

The next thing we did was head over to the former Pirates 4D building, to see the new Time Voyagers film. I wasn't very impressed with the film. It didn't help that it doesn't match the theming of the building, and it was a little on the bland side. It also only lasts about 5 minutes, which isn't much considering it's for a show that was only playing once an hour. It's more of a film suited for a ride that's constantly playing throughout the day.

On the plus side in the time we spent doing X: No Way Out and Time Voyagers the queue for Stealth had gone down so I managed to get an after dark go on at least one of the major roller coasters.  Due to all the floodlights it isn't really any more exciting than the during the day, but the views from the top are even more spectacular than normal.

After that we headed over to The Curse horror maze which was now open. This one is new for this year and makes a very good addition to the line up. It falls in between both Asylum and Hellgate in terms of both quality of theming and terms of freaky scary shocks. Another nice touch is the theming does keep in with the theming of the Amity Cove area, with actors dressed as dead Sailors.

At the end of the night we just had time to do the Rumba Rapids.
Overal it was quite an unusual trip to Thorpe Park, having done very few coasters and thrill rides, but we had a great time doing the four different horror mazes. If you have a chance to get to Thorpe Park during the Fright Night events it is well worth making the effort.
