The Tour
De Parks Prologue in London |
|
|
|
This first
part of the report is from a visit to London during the Tour de France
prologue, with about a million other
people, to watch it and enjoy the festivities.
It was a bit of a nightmare getting around with a lot of access paths
closed for the race, and so many people wanting to use the tube system,
but overall it was a great day out, and something I'm glad I was part off. |
|

I managed to get a great spot
in front of Buckingham Palace to watch the parade that takes place before
the cyclists past through. |
|

This is one of the race
organisers checking out the course. I don't rate his chances that highly
on that bike. |
|

I got to see some of the
cyclists warming up, and
scouting the course before the race. |
|

This is the big parade they do
with the Tour. This being London there's a London cab there. They also
give out a load of free pens and key rings to spectators as they pass. I
can't believe I didn't get one free pen. |
|

The most popular item being
given out though was the ones
being given out by these cars. |
|

Obviously there's a lot of big
French brand names taking place in the parade. I have no idea what it is
that Cofidis sell. |
|

Some of the cyclists do there
course scouting during the pre tour parade. |
|

That's a large van shaped like
a giant bottle of mineral water. Ken Livingstone was saying we should
boycott them. |
|

This float is advertising
Skoda. It's trying to associate a Skoda with heaven and angels. Make your
own jokes about that. |
|

I don't know what there
advertising, but that is one cool vehicle. |
