Waltzers From Vienna
I only found
out about Weiner Prater in Vienna when reading a trip
report last year. On doing a bit more research about it
I was impressed by the large number of rides it had and
it made it's way on to my wish list. I was able to
arrange a short overnight trip in May 2007 to travel to
both the worlds second oldest amusement park Wiener
Prater, and to visit to the worlds oldest
zoo. |
Vienna Zoo was founded in the grounds
of the Schonbrunn Palace in in1752. It is host to some
stunning architecture from the time including this
building known as the Emperor's Pavilion.
As well as the architecture it also
pays host to a great array of animals including a pair
of Koalas. They do almost nothing but sleep but still
come across as really cute. A bit like my cat in that
respect.
One of the zoos main highlights has to
be the Giant Pandas at the zoo. Sadly I wasn't lucky
enough to see the Panda cub born in 2007, but even
getting to see the rare Pandas was an enthralling
experience in itself.
The zoo also pays host to a group of
Hippos.
 Another impressive building is the
Zoo's Monkey House.
The main feature of the Monkey House
has to be the group of Orang-utans at the back of
it.
There is also an impressive penguin
house. The zoo had three species of penguins including
these King Penguins.
Another group of penguins found in the
penguin house.
The Sea Lions where very popular. On
the left you can see a mother suckling one of it's
pups.
 Speaking of Baby animals another
highlight of the zoo had to be the chance to see these
Polar Bear Cubs.
If you like Bears then Vienna Zoo has
to be the place for you. As well as the Pandas and Polar
Bears they've also got a group of Spectacled
Bears.
They've also got a couple of Brown
Bears as well.
