heard a lot about the thrill ride known as the booster, and had been
wanting to try it for a while. There was a version at Fantasy
Island, Skegness, but it wasn't operating when I visited. There was
even one at a local funfair for me, but it was on a weekend when I
was away. This means I've been wanting to try out a booster ride for
a couple of years.
I'm glad to say I wasn't disappointed. It's a very big arm, that
spins a pod at each end in a very big circle. What makes this ride
more than a very tall magic carpet is the design of the pods at the
end of each arm. You sit back to back, parallel to the arm, but more
importantly they have a pivot point, meaning the pods can rock and
even flip over freely. This creates some very exciting and thrilling
moments as your tipped back into different positions as you spin
round the arc. A great ride that enhances Blackpool's ride line up,
which was previously a little lacking in thrill rides.
