Due to a
combination of lack of time and fear of embarrassment I've missed trying out
this ride on several previous visits. It looks like what is a very common
ride, the Rocking Tug. Basically a shipped shaped pod that rocks back and
forth on a small dip of track while spinning slowly. It's been very popular,
especially with family orientated parks as it's a nice low level thrill ride
that infants can enjoy, and older visitors can still get some enjoyment, or
at least bemusement from it.
At first glance it seems like another version of this ride, only with
slightly more original theming, with the pod being themed as a skateboard.
On riding it I discovered ride had more to offer than I first thought. The
spinning of the pod feels faster on this ride than on a standard Rocking
Tug, creating a more thrilling sensation. This is especially prevalent at
the start of the ride when it's allowed to gather momentum. Unfortunately it
doesn't keep this up throughout the ride cycle. After the initial spin at
the start it goes through a cycle where it keeps slowing down and changing
the direction of spin. This is a good way to add variety to the ride, and
stop it being repetitive, but here I think it would work better with fewer
changes of direction to allow the pod to gather enough momentum. That way
you would experience it more when it's at it's most thrilling. |
