This ride was a revolutionary ride when it first opened in 1995. Back then the thrill ride market in the U.K. was flooded with pirate ships, magic carpets and enterprises.

This was one of the earlier major thrill rides that paved the way for rides like The Samurai, Vortex and Maelstrom, much like Nemesis paved the way for other great thrilling coasters to come about. It is a little bit of a shame them that this one now seems a little lost in the mix.

Like most of Chessington, this ride has some great theming. This does help distinguish it from the image this ride could have as a fairground ride, and give more of a sense of occasion when riding it. The themings also good as it means this ride is solidly built in to the ground, which stops it being relocated to Thorpe Park. I think this ride is better at Chessington, because to be a good family park you need something to entertain the more daring members of the family.

The programn you get on this ride does vary quite a bit depending on the operators mood and who's riding. Still this ride has never failed to offer a fun and thrilling experience, and I think suits Chessington well as a ride for the family thrillseeker market.
