The
name Jolly Buccaneer sounds like a piratey version of the Happy Sailor
seastorm rides that are popular at various fairgrounds, particularly at
European fairs. One version I rode at the Foire du Trone in Paris was a
personal favorite of mine, thanks to some great decorations, a large
amount of g-force created on the bumps, and some great lighting effects.
Returning to England, just outside of Tamworth brings me back to this.
This one is themed to keep in with the Pirate Cove area of the park.
Rather than a brightly colored theme it has more of an Old World feel,
with the boats made to look like there made of dark wood, and a statue
of a pirate in the center completes the feel.
With a few notable exceptions most Seastorm
rides I've ridden fall in to 2 categories. The more thrilling ones rank
up there with other good family thrill rides, and tamer ones which rank
alongside other kids thrill rides like the Rockin' Tug and Teacups.
From the look of it I thought this would be one of the more thrilling
ones, but to ride it feels like one of the tamer kid friendly versions.
This makes it a nice ride to do if you have kids in your party, but for
anyone else it's just a distraction from the parks bigger rides.
