This attraction was a real
surprise for me. From the outside it looks like just a plain building, and I
was only expecting some small quick diversion along the lines of the
Village Life Museum next to this attraction. The entrance corridor to the
main hall reiterated that fact.
These early misconceptions only served to make the impact of entering the
main hall even greater. The photos here don't really do it justice. What it
consists of is a huge hall themed around a traditional Romanian Gypsy
village. The size and scale of the exhibition is impressive, much bigger
than you'd suspect from the outside. The real clincher though are the models used in the attraction. There
replicas (or the could be restored originals) of traditional Romanian Gypsy
caravans, I'm surprised the Daily Mail hasn't condemned this ride yet. The
quality and detail on these models is stunning, enough to make you want to
stop and look at every one.
These are accompanied by some mannequins of Gypsies, that show you various
traditional aspects of Gypsy culture such as palm reading and peg making.
These parts do feel a little secondary compared to the detail of the
caravans, but help give the ride more interest, and give it more of a
purpose. |
