I've been on quite a few examples of big
splash rides on splash boats or water coasters, including rides such
as Hydro at Oakwood, and the Lost River at Flamingo Land. Both of
these are better rides than this, but don't get ranked as highly.
This is probably because they're at less popular parks.
What makes
Thorpe Parks one unique is the theming of the area and the queue
line. It's a good imaginative theme of a 50's rock n roll American
town that's been hit by a giant tidal wave.
The ride
itself is really a one trick pony. That's not necessarily a bad
thing. I can think of quite a few rides that fall into that category
but are still great rides because they offer such a good trick. This
rides trick, the big splash is a pretty good one, and creates a fun
and memorable experience, as long as it's a warm dry day and you
don't mind getting wet. I think it is a fun and novel attraction,
just not ranked as high as it sometimes made out to
be. |
