The paratrooper is a ride
that's slipped in to the status of being an old style ride, without gaining
the status of a classic or a family favourite in the process. After riding
this one I don't really find this fact that surprising.
It's a big circle of chairs hanging under a large horizontal wheel, that
spins around causing the seats to swing out. The wheel then rises up at an
angle, stopping at a diagonal angle.
It's hard to tell if it's suppose to be a family thrill ride, or an
observational ride, but it has faults as both. As an observational ride the
cars spin round to fast, and you view is to restricted by the seating
arrangement for you to have a chance to appreciate the view. I also believe
this ride would be better located closer to the lake, where there
would be more to observe. As a family thrill ride it does feel a little dull
and tame, and isn't as effective as the more popular chair swing. It's nice
to see an old ride still kept in operation, but it's not one that I'd regard
as a classic. |
